Dunkeld House wedding photographer | Linsey + Gareth

Welcome back to the blog! The place where we give you further insight into our work, the behind the scenes, wedding planning, tips, guides and much more! We’re excited to tell you all about a recent wedding we had the honour of documenting.

A Dunkeld House Hotel Wedding | Dunkeld House Wedding Photographer and Videographer

Linsey and Gareth decided to tie the knot at the beautiful Dunkeld House Hotel, a luxurious wedding venue situated in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland. This venue is perfect for couples seeking a traditional Scottish setting as it exudes historic charm with stunning views of the River Tay and majestic forestry all around. It was our first time documenting a wedding at the Dunkeld House Hotel and we fell in love with this venue! Aside from the facilities and services a wedding venue offers, one of the most important thing you should pay close attention to is the scenery around it and whether it has any picturesque spots around it for a stunning wedding gallery and film.

Dunkeld House Hotel ticked every box for Linsey and Gareth which made it a super emotional day for them. You know the feeling of uncertainty when you’re planning a wedding in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. It’s bizarre, one day there’s an announcement that weddings will take place, the next day, we’re back in a lockdown again! So, you wonder, and getting married to the love of your life turns into a dream. This is why Gareth and Linsey both felt beyond emotional - because “It was everything they wanted”.

Breathtaking Scenery For A Beautiful Wedding

For us as wedding photographers and videographers, documenting a couple’s wedding day is beyond exciting! But when you have all this breath-taking scenery all around, the thrill and excitement to capture a couple’s wedding day is incomparable. Having such magnificent scenery allows us to be creative and use our artistic flair to capture photos that are dramatic to match the scenery and romantic to reflect your bond and love for one another.

On the day, we began with the morning preparations and captured all the details before the ceremony. The couple wanted to keep their day traditional and get ready separately. We find this builds excitement and anticipation on the day making it even feel more real to get married!

As we reached the final stage of the preparations, it was time for the big reveal of the bride to her dad! This is one of our favourite parts of a wedding day and one of the emotional milestones of your day. It’s these moments that you’ll look back at and cherish forever! Especially when doing a first look with your father. Not only is this a nice gesture to show your father how much he means to you but to also let him know that through all these years his influence, guidance, and complete love for you is the reason you have reached where you are.

The marquee where the ceremony was taking place was tastefully decorated by the talented Coach House Flowers who did a brilliant job at creating a stunning atmosphere and Linsey’s bridal bouquet and that of her bridesmaids which were absolutely flawless.

The ceremony was intimate and full of tradition with Linsey and Gareth’s nearest and dearest present. The couple decided to incorporate Scottish traditions such as hand-fasting and drinking from a quaich. These ceremonious rituals are usually carried out during a wedding ceremony to symbolise the love and union of the couple from two lives into one and their trust in one another.

After the ceremony the couple also chose to have confetti, another tradition to bestow prosperity and fertility upon the happy couple. Having your guests throw confetti makes for some fun and creative shots as well as video footage for a film as it brings out all the emotions of you and your guests from happiness, to laughter and joy.

As the day unfolded, Linsey and Gareth made their grand entrance into the reception marquee which had a rustic feel to it and was bursting with cheer for the happy couple. The decor was simple but beautiful and brought the room to life through the colour scheme they went with which was timeless and elegant to say the least. Elements of their personality were also incorporated throughout the day such as the top tier of their cake being dedicated to Gareth’s love for his playstation, the bottom tier to Linsey’s love for Harry Potter and the middle or binding tier to their love for travelling the world.

Kind words from Linsey and Gareth:

“Thank you so, so much for all of your hard work! You and Shay have absolutely blown us away with how stunning those photos are. Gareth and I are so grateful to you both!”
