St Andrews elopement photographer | Nicolette + Antoine

Elopements are cute, unique and intimate. As wedding photographers and videographers, capturing the raw, authentic and emotional moments of an elopement whilst being surrounded by beautiful scenery is a feeling that brings nothing but pure joy and excitement. Being able to capture a couple in love surrounded by this beauty makes it all the more worthwhile. So what does it mean to elope?

The dictionary defition of “elope” previously meant "to runaway and secretly get married,” but it’s shifting towards "a small destination wedding". This would be somewhere that is meaningful to you both - and the options are endless! It could be on top of an Icelandic glacier, on a private yatch in the middle of the ocean, on top of the dramatic mountains of the Scottish Highlands, on a beach in Santorini or even in front of a waterfall! You see, it’s not just gettting married, it’s getting married to the love of your life somewhere that holds a place in your hearts - and you choose to elope, not because you don’t want any family there, but because you want to focus on an intentional experience. P.S. you can always invite friends and family to your special day and throw a bigger party later on to celebrate your union.

Why Elope to St Andrews?

St Andrews is a city of history, character and love! We hear so many stories from our clients that St Andrews was the city they met in and fell in love. It’s the city where love stories are created, continued and cherished. Eloping to St Andrews is a dream come true for many couples especially for those in search of rugged landscapes, beautiful secluded beaches and the ocean breeze, and of course the charming character of a historic city. St Andrews is an incredible location for a beautiful Scottish elopement and is filled with picturesque spots - from endless open beaches to dramatic cliffs, medieval cathedrals, beautiful gardens, charming venues and many more!

An Intimate St Andrews Elopement - St Andrews Elopement Photographer and Videographer

Antoine and Nicolette reached out to us as they were planning to elope to St Andrews and wanted a local elopement photographer to capture their special day so that they could have memories that they could hold on to forever. Their wedding was taking place at Castle Sands Beach, an isolated beach in St Andrews which gave them an elopement feel, making it the ideal spot for their elopement ceremony. Some couples often feel overwhelmed with planning a traditional wedding so to avoid that feeling and to keep things nice and simple, they instead plan a smaller, more intimate and unique elopement wedding where they actually get to enjoy the intimacy of their big day even more. Along with the couple was their sweet daughter and their good friend, and the humanist for their ceremony was none other than Gary Smith.

The ceremony took place in a tranquil and rugged setting overlooking the magnificent ocean - the perfect backdrop for this lovely couples photos. Their ceremony was short and sweet and the couple happily exchanged vows and rings and to end it off in a true Gary Smith fashion he chanted his famous words, ‘Be happy’. Throughout the ceremony I snapped up some beautiful candid shots of Antoine and Nicolette who looked as happy as ever tying the knot. Once the ceremony came to a close, the newlyweds joyfully wandered around the beach and of course I captured more shots of them as they spent some quality time together as husband and wife. We then headed down to St Andrews Cathedral and East Sands beach where there were some amazing photo opportunities. These are some of the best spots in St Andrews to take photos on your wedding day because of their beautiful settings that create a romantic atmosphere and of course a stunning backdrop for your wedding gallery.

So, if you are planning a St Andrews elopement wedding or an intimate wedding in St Andrews, we would love to hear from you!

Kind words from Antoine and Nicolette:

”Thank you so much for sharing the album with us. I have had a look just now and I can’t say enough how happy I am with them. They are fantastic and everything we were hoping for. Thank you again so much for your time, kindness and amazing photos for our very special day.”
